PubliQuartet

We open the 2021 – 2022 season with an innovative ensemble that was nominated for a 2019 Grammy Award for their album Freedom and Faith. They’ve been applauded by The Washington Post as “a perfect encapsulation of today’s trends in chamber music.” And in January 2019 they received Chamber Music America’s prestigious Visionary Award in recognition of ensembles who have “led the field in creative thinking and innovation!”

The program will open with a work by Vijay Iyer a composer who has been called “a deeply important young star” (LA Weekly). His works have been commissioned by the Brentano Quartet, Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble and the LA Philharmonic.

The following pieces are from PUBLIQuartet’s MIND | THE | GAP project which bridges the gap between diverse musical genres through group improvisation.
