Peter Oden

Peter joined the board of Friends of Music in 2020 as Secretary.

Although both his parents were performing artists (mother a dancer, father an orchestra conductor,) Peter pursued a different path. Following a few years teaching and receipt of a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, Peter spent the bulk of his career as a Research Staff Member at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, focusing on computer chip design, programming languages, and compilers.  Love of music has always been a part of his life, though, and the association with Friends of Music Concerts goes “way back.” Other outside interests include sailing and Peter has served as Commodore of the Shattemuc Yacht Club on Westerly Road in Ossining, and now serves as its secretary.  He also shares responsibility for the yacht club web site and its monthly newsletter.
