Lincoln Center comes to us! We are delighted to welcome acclaimed classical music stars Wu Han, piano, Philip Setzer, violin and David Finckel, cello, to our opening concert. In addition to their performance careers, Han and Finckel are the longtime co-artistic directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Finckel and Setzer have performed as part of the legendary and now retired Emerson String Quartet, which graced our programs many times over the years. Of this trio, The Washington Post has said, “their ensemble is seamless,” while The St. Paul Pioneer Press has observed, “they are almost as much fun to watch as to hear.”

The program for this evening includes:
- Franz Josef Haydn: Piano Trio No. 18 in A major
- Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Trio in G major, Op. 1, No. 2
- Antonin Dvořák: Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 90 “Dumky”
Named Musical America’s Musician of the Year (with David Finckel) in 2012, pianist Wu Han ranks among the most esteemed and influential classical musicians in the world today. Leading an unusually multifaceted artistic career, she has risen to international prominence as a concert performer, artistic director, recording artist, educator, and cultural entrepreneur.
Violinist Philip Setzer was a founding member of the Emerson String Quartet, which, over its illustrious career, received nine Grammy Awards, three Gramophone Awards, and the coveted Avery Fisher Prize, and has performed cycles of the complete Beethoven, Bartók, and Shostakovich string quartets in the world’s musical capitals, from New York to Vienna.
In addition to sharing the 2012 Musical America’s Musician of the Year award with Wu Han, cellist David Finckel’s dynamic career has included performances on the world’s stages in the roles of recitalist, chamber artist, and orchestral soloist. He is also professor of cello at Juilliard and visiting professor of music at Stony Brook. Along with Setzer, he performed with the Emerson Quartet for more than three decades.
This concert is generously sponsored, in part, by White and Williams, LLP.
