A. Adam Glenn

A. Adam Glenn joined the board of Friends of Music in the spring of 2017, after just two seasons as a subscriber, to help with its marketing and publicity initiatives, and to pursue his passion to bring classical music to wider audiences.

Adam is a long-time journalist, media consultant and journalism educator, specializing in digital media and environmental reporting. He has worked in newsrooms in New York and Washington for 35 years, including most recently at ABCNews. He has partnered with news organizations like WNYC, taught at Columbia, NYU and Columbia, and served media clients including the United Nations.

MUSICAL MOMENTS: Adam’s fascination with the classical form was fueled by the regular arrivals of his father’s record-of-the-month club collection. Trained as a classical pianist through young adulthood, his practice peaked during a master class with Dorothy Taubman of the Taubman Institute, shortly after which his attentions turned to ragtime, rock’n’roll and the life of a college student. His return to his first musical love is now shared with his teenage daughter, who despite aging out of the Young People’s Philharmonic concerts, continues to study voice and clarinet.
