Howard Cohen

Howard has been a loyal subscriber to Friends of Music for 30+ years and joined the Board in 2016 to help with programming and to promote the organization.

He lives in Cortlandt Manor with his wife Lori, an early childhood educator and professional knitter, and has two children: Amy, the founder of her own circus arts school, Circus Culture in Ithaca, N.Y., and Noah, a marketing student at Ithaca College. After serving as an IT director for NYC’s Department of Environmental Protection and as an account executive and consultant for government, Howard is now focused on working with nonprofits.

MUSICAL NOTES: Howard is an accomplished cellist with several ensembles including the Chappaqua Orchestra, St. Thomas Orchestra, Yonkers Philharmonic, Croton Chorale, Hudson Valley Opera Company, and the Westchester Klezmer Program—and performs everything from Bach to the Beatles at hospice and assisted living facilities. Music is a life-long passion for Howard, who is constantly playing chamber, orchestral, and klezmer music, and attends a chamber-music festival each summer.
